
FUEN TAG Delegation Visits Kosovo
Halit Habip Oğlu, Spokesperson of the Turkish Minorities and Communities Working Group (TAG) within the Federal Union of European Nationalities (FUEN), paid a working visit to Kosovo on August 22, 2025.
He was accompanied by Melek Kırmacı from the FUEN TAG Secretariat. The visit was hosted by the Kosovo Youth Union Association (KGBD), a FUEN member organization, under the leadership of its President, Cengiz Kovaç. During the working visit, meetings were held with representatives of the Turkish community living in the cities of Prizren and Mamuša.
As part of the visit, Habip Oğlu met with the Consul General of the Republic of Türkiye in Prizren, Celal Doğan; Chairman of the Kosovo Democratic Turkish Party (KDTP) and Minister of Regional Development, Fikrim Damka; KDTP Member of the Kosovo Parliament, Fidan Brina Jilta; Mayor of Mamuša and KDTP Deputy Chairman, Abdülhadi Krasniç; and Deputy Chairman of Prizren Municipal Assembly, Levent Buş. He also visited the Doğru Yol Turkish Cultural and Art Association and the Kosovo Turkish Teachers Association (KTÖD).
Habip Oğlu introduced FUEN and TAG, explaining that FUEN is the largest umbrella organization for autochthonous national minorities and linguistic groups in Europe, and that TAG, established in 2013, brings together Turkish minorities and communities across a wide geography from the Balkans to the Caucasus. He noted that TAG’s annual meetings serve as a platform for Turkish organizations and mentioned that the 11th annual meeting in 2025 was hosted by the Bulgarian Turks in the city of Varna.
During the discussions, the FUEN TAG delegation was informed about the history of the Turks in Kosovo, their organizational structure, current situation and challenges, as well as the activities of Turkish civil society organizations and associations in the country.
